A lot of the designs on the shelves of contemporary rug shops look like they’ve been sitting on a shelf for the last couple of years.
But this is no ordinary rug.
Vintage rug has a reputation for being hard to find, and this is due to the fact that the fabric is so rare that most rug manufacturers are unable to source it, let alone create the perfect fabric.
A rug made in the 1980s would probably cost about £1,000.
Today it is around £50 to £80.
But a lot of designers are now trying to revive the old-fashioned style, which is still a staple in the home and is now available for a fraction of that.
They’re looking to make an authentic piece that has been handcrafted and created from scratch by the original owner of the original rug.
“It’s a wonderful idea, but a lot goes into making a new rug and we need to have that quality in our design.
So we are looking at making something that is the original piece that was made and created by the owner of that particular rug, whether that’s the original wood, whether it’s the canvas used, whether the fabric or the design itself, and the materials we use in it, in terms of the construction,” says Mark Henson, who is leading a team of designers and fabricators at a British company called Vivid Loom.”
They are the original builders of the fabric, so it’s something that has always been there and they have been very supportive and helpful.
So that is something that really appeals to me.”
The design process The designers and designers at Vivid are working with a team who has been doing this for almost 30 years.
The designers at the team are working on the original pieces, creating a unique design that can be used for an entire house, or just the house itself.
“So we’ve been using a lot more of the classic fabrics from the Victorian era and some of the more contemporary fabrics.
And we’ve had a great deal of success with the modern fabrics.
So there is a lot that is very distinctive about the original fabric,” says Henson.
“So it’s very much a hand-to-hand process, it’s quite simple, and it’s a lot less expensive than buying a new fabric.”
And the fabric itself is very, very strong, so you can easily carry it around and it can be carried very easily.
So it is really quite simple to put it together and it really looks like the original.
“The new design is one that Henson is working on with the original owners of the rug.
And while they’re still waiting on the final design, the designers are also working on making the rug even more unique by making it a little more comfortable to wear.”
The new rug is actually designed to be very comfortable and it has the shape of a tennis ball, so there’s a little bit of stretchiness that’s available.
“You can feel it when you wear it and you can feel the fabric through the leather,” says Vivid.
They’ve been working with the owner and he has been incredibly supportive, so we’re looking forward to seeing the final result.
But what will it look like?
A lot of rug makers are trying to resurrect the old classic style.
“You have to understand that it’s not just about making something beautiful, but it’s about the design of the design, it has to be as good as it can possibly be, and I think that’s something we’re all striving for.
It’s not about making a fancy looking rug, it needs to look as good and as authentic as possible,” says designer Mark Hinson.
He says the designers at this new team are also looking to create something that will appeal to older people.
“We’re looking at the designs that we’re seeing on the market now for people over 65.
So these old people who are more than 65 would be really happy with this,” he says.
Henson says there is also a bit of a nostalgia element to this project.
When he first started working with Vivid in 2004, the team had only created a few designs and they weren’t even sure they were going to be successful.
Now they are using their experience to help bring back the old classics.
“In the old days it was very much an antique world and you had to buy your own fabrics.
It was a very expensive process,” says the designer.
This is the first time Vivid has tried to recreate the fabric that the original creators used, which they believe was a luxury that was not available in the 19th century.
“But there is something about the old fabrics, there is that connection that you feel, you can look at something and you know it’s really good,” he adds.
And he’s not the only designer who is working to revive an old style.
